About El Forno

The warm, earth-toned decor creates an inviting space where aromas of spices linger long after the meal concludes. Patrons often find themselves lingering over shared tagines, rich with slow-cooked lamb and preserved lemons. Between the subtle clatter of dishes and low murmur of conversation, glimpses of El Forno photos captured by visitors reveal bustling tables and intricate plate presentations. While the atmosphere exudes a traditional charm, occasional waits between courses can test the patience of some diners, particularly during busy hours.

Exploring the El Forno menu reveals a thoughtful balance between well-known Moroccan classics and lesser-seen regional specialties. Dishes like the pastilla offer a complex layering of sweet and savory notes, while sides such as zaalouk—an eggplant and tomato salad—add fresh, vibrant contrast. The meal’s progression is complemented by attentive, if sometimes brisk, service that manages the pace without rushing. Compared to other Moroccan dining experiences, this establishment maintains fair pricing, though portions might leave those with larger appetites wanting just a bit more.

Feedback echoed in various El Forno restaurant reviews frequently highlights the authenticity of flavors and the genuine effort to maintain traditional methods. Yet, some note variations in consistency depending on the day or time of visit. The blend of modern comfort and cultural heritage invites both locals and tourists to explore Morocco’s culinary landscape. Food enthusiasts consulting visual guides or looking for detailed insights might find these firsthand accounts valuable in setting expectations. Overall, the experience balances artistry and nostalgia, offering a noteworthy glimpse into Moroccan culinary artistry.

El Forno is a small and friendly restaurant in the old Medina of Fez. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner with good quality and taste. The breakfast is fresh and tasty, especially the bread and mint tea. The service is kind and helpful, and the place has a relaxed local feel. Prices are affordable, making it a great stop during your walk in the Medina. A nice spot for a simple and enjoyable meal in the heart of Fez.

Very cozy place in the middle of the medina of Fès. The food was delicious, I ordered a chicken Tajine with seasonal vegetables, very tasty. I also ordered for dessert local Moroccan sweets, excellent. The staff are helpful, the place is carefully decorated with local crafts and there is air conditioning. A great recommendation for all-day dining.

Very nice restaurant. The food was good, but my expectations were a little higher. We took the tajine with sesonal vegetables which was 80 dirhams. They bring you some appetizers in the beginning. They have also free wifi. The stuff is very very nice and polite. The tajine is a must try while in Fez or somewhere else in Morocco

Great food and friendly staff. The falafel salad and couscous were very nice and the fruit in the fruit salad we ordered for dessert were delicious.

Loved our meal here! Friendly service. Food was tasty and price is very reasonable! Especially enjoyed the white pea soup. Great find in Fes on the main road.

Service was very nice and friendly. Hummus was a disaster. Like a complete catastrophe. However the tagine and chicken were fine. Coffee was passable, but I'd rather check another place around for it. Overall it might be okay for a quick lunch, but don't expect too much.

Everything was very good, the staff was very friendly, kind, and especially cheerful. Fresh and high-quality products at a low price compared to a restaurant in Marrakech. Honest prices, similar to those in Fez. Highly recommended, even for breakfast — delicious Moroccan pastries, and the orange juice and tea were really good.
